Has anyone any information about snow shoe hiking to the summit of Mt Torbreck and how to get there etc?

Have only walked the area during the non winter months and enjoyed it. I have camped at the picnic area and walked over the summit. Also walked in via the old log snigging track to the monument the relates to the 3 RAAF personal who lost their lives in a crash, I think 1940. There is still wreckage in the scrub including an engine located in one of the gullies below the monument.

Access is via Barnewall Plains Road but I think in the winter you can only get to about 2km (locked gate) of the picnic area which is the start of the walk. The following link may assist http://forums.ski.com.au/forums/ubbthre ... er=1741005

I would think a great day snow walk and also a good spot to try out snow camping.

Hope that helps.
