3 day circuit in Bogong High Plains/Feathertop

Tue 29 Oct, 2013 12:36 pm

Hi all,

I've been looking around trying to find a great 3 day walk in the Alpine National Park that doesn't involve a car shuffle, to head to this weekend. I did one in high school that had wildflowers, historic huts, mountains, but I can't remember where it was exactly - does it sound like Bogong High Plains?

Basically I want scenery plus, and not too strenuous - any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

J

Anywhere on the Bogong highplains or surrounds really. Some options that can be lengthened or shortened easily would be:

Start at pretty valley pondage go around Tawonga huts, Mt Jim, Cope and Wallace hut and then back over Heathy's spur, sun valley and rocky knolls.
Start at Diamantina Hut/Loch car park on Mt Hotham, over the razorback of Feathertop down via Diamantina and up to the Fainters/Jaitmathangs (sic) and back via Mt Jim and Dibbins Hut.
Park at Howmans Gap, up track 24/Frying pan spur, around Rocky knolls to the south side of Rocky Valley, around to watchbed creek up to Mt Nelse along Spion Kopje fire trail and then down and up out of the East Kiewa.
