Mount Ellery

Postby Messidor » Fri 26 Nov, 2021 5:07 pm

Hi all, I have a couple of questions about Mount Ellery in Gippsland for those who've walked it. The first is, can you climb the summit boulder? I have been lead to believe it might be inaccessible. The other is, what is the access road like? Thanks!

I walked there in 2007. Access road was suitable for 2WD on that occasion. To me, a walker not a climber, the summit boulder looked impossible. I did my best to find a safe way, but that didn't take up a lot of time. It was a nice walk through tiger snake country.

Thanks. I'm a fairly competent scrambler, but not a climber either. I think it's unlikely I'd try to take it on.

Hopefully that area is recovering from the fires...
