High for New Year

There is a tent suggestion in the "one person tent" thread that reminded me of flying a kite up at Mt Sterling on New Year's day.
It was going to be a really hot end and hotter start of the year so Sat morning my mate Yair and myself left Melbourne and went up to the mountains .
As usual we were the only ones camping at the top (several tents hiding in the bushes below) so we just enjoyed looking at the great sunset getting up at 4AM (!) for the very long wait to the sunrise.
Yair did not bother with a tent, just slept in his bivvy.
(BTW, nice cool night. Windy so no bugs . About 10c in the early morning)
After breakfast Yair decided to fly his kite.
After many failed attempts we finally figured out what was wrong and managed to let it fly till we got tired of it.
Anyway, we preferred the Milky Way to the fire works...

Great shots! Looks like a magic place to celebrate the new year.

Is it just me, but it looks like your tent is at a pretty awkward angle? You'd need to Velcro your sleep mat to the floor, Velcro your bag to the mat and then Velcro yourself into the bag

The tent itself is at an odd angle but the floor area was flat.
I was using my Neo Air , it remained in place.
Just after the sunrise shot was taken I went back to sleep, apparently I was snoring within a few minutes.
I like that spot because you can simultaneously see both sides and if there is any breeze you get it...
(got up at about 1am to pull one end taut so that it would stop flapping. Two cm of tension and it worked.Ah , the joy of a non flapping tent...)

Have I missed someting or is there some significance to the rather concerned moribund looking 'mouse'?

2E (the rat from Rat A Toui ) is looking very amused at my dorky expression.
(I had been waiting for almost 2 hours for that moment)
2E is Yair's mascot, he goes all over the place with him.

BTW, the camera is the Pana TS1, great camera for bushwalking (now ts3)
