Woonoongoora Camp Water Nearby?

Postby gidge12374 » Mon 19 Nov, 2012 7:50 am

Hi There
Has anyone stayed at this camp ground lately and if so, how is is for rainwater from the tank? I'm planning on doing one night there this Friday (23rd) and don't fancy lugging all our water for the 2 days of hiking....thanks in advance for any info :D

Walked this walk June 2012. Woonoongoora walkers camp has a rainwater tank filled by a downpipe off the toilet roof. Was over flowing when we were there in mid June, and my guess is it still would be (if not washed away from recent downpours!) . I drank plenty without boiling or illness, but do so at your own risk. (I have never been sick drinking water in NP's in SEQ or on my 3 visits to Thailand for that matter, maybe I just have tough innards!)

If the tank happened to be dry, and thats unlikley unless the tap was leaking, there is reliable water supply at Apple tree park, 900 steps up the hill. Also at the bottom of the hill is a small creek, just before the final up hill. This would be a solution if need be.

I was at Woonoongoora Camp this this week and there was water in the tank. How much is hard to tell but yes there was water.
I hope this info helps you out.
