Hi,

Has anyone done mt Barney west peak? What is the best route? I'm assuming it would start at rum jungle camp sites in the saddle?

From Rum Jungle start slab scrambling from the right of the campsite and just head for the peak; terrain is a steeper rougher version of the Rum Jungle to East Peak route with a similar range of random pads. About two-thirds up work left of a small bluff but take care as this takes you close to the top of the south-east cliff.

Or alternatively longer trip from Savage's Ridge up the back of the slot on the western side of West Peak , not so good in the wet, and then down to Rum Jungle. Pleasant two day trip with good views from the top of Savages. Coming down from West Peak can require some navigation watch out for sizable drops.
