Federation Peak: Descriptive Writing

Sun 19 Jul, 2009 4:26 pm

G'day all - I recently posted here some descriptions of a 1991 walk to/ascent of Federation Peak. It was just a bushwalk - yet it managed to have a big influence on my attitudes towards life. I'm now blogging the Federation Peak series, along with some of my other nature writing. The 15 part Federation story starts at http://auntyscuttle.blogspot.com/2009/0 ... art-1.html

cheers and happy reading

Peter

Hi Peter,

This is great reading - when will the complete series be finished?! I'm now very keen to hear how the whole adventure unfolds. Having not climbed Federation Peak myself, i'm now even more cautious of attempting it, especially after reading the 'pep talk' that your friend Rob gave you as described in your blog.

Cheers
Luke

I have just read the first couple of parts. Ray Burke was never the same again after losing his daughter. As a father myself I would have been inconsolable. Very, very sad.

G'day all - parts 9 and 10 of the 15 part series describing an ascent of Federation Peak in 1991 are now up on my blog. We're getting to crunch time on Tassie's most difficult walk! Read all about it at http://auntyscuttle.blogspot.com/

Thanks to Frank for suggesting I add a "subscribe" button. I'm new to blogging :?: but I think I've now done this.

Okay - part 11 of the Federation story is now posted. We're on top, but isn't that when the fun begins? We've still gotta get down yet, but I'll leave that till next week's posts. That's assuming we DO get down, of course

G'day all - we're nearly at the end of the Federation Peak series. I've just posted the penultimate chapter (been dying to use that word!) on my "Nature Writer" blog. It's part 14, "Further Down", in which we learn there are other hazards out there besides steep mountains!

Read on at http://auntyscuttle.blogspot.com

All done! :D The final Federation Peak episode has now been posted on my blog at http://auntyscuttle.blogspot.com/

I hope you enjoy it - and please pass around the URL for the blog. The plan is to eventually incorporate these pieces into a book.

G'day all - I've added a PS to my Federation pieces. ... Okay - so I got a bit keen on this blogging caper :) It tries to put a context on the pieces, as well as explain where to from here (for me).

But it also prompted the question "Why Do You Walk?" (posted earlier today). Please read the blog, and respond to that question on the forum. The blog's at http://auntyscuttle.blogspot.com/ and the query post is php?f=5&t=2516 (or if that fails, find it on the main track)

cheers
