Hi All
Katie_F and myself have been out n about lately visiting some falls / tracks in the north of the state. Have completed 5 in the last week.
Two we visited were Westmorland and lobster falls. Arriving at Mole Creek Krast Conservation Area @ around 3pm on a clear dry day. The walk into Westmorland was relatively easy through old growth rainforest and moss laden trees and logs. The view of the falls was great with good water flow, very much a hidden treasure tucked away in the forest. It appears Parks is currently upgrading the track with the installation of new water crossings, a few piles of timber and girders can be seen scattered throughout the walk. There is only one log crossing left. We spent half hour or so at the falls just taking in the view and taking pictures. On the walk back to the car we came across a tiger snake crossing the track, unfortunately I was to slow to get the camera out before it slivered off undisturbed.
We then stopped @ Lobster falls on our way back to Launceston, we only managed to visit the bottom falls due to the deteriorating light conditions. The walk in was also easy going with the exception of the last 100 metres or so, the short decent down to the falls being rather slippery. We stopped there for a while then made our way back to the car and returning to Launceston via Westbury for a visit to the local bakery

Apparently lobster falls is a great haunt for paddlers, a friend of mine has paddled this area many times, especially when the water is up.
I’d recommend both of these walks, especially Westmorland due to great falls at the end of the track! I'm Keen to head back to Westmorland soon in better light conditions for photography, could easily spend all day there.
Cheer's Matt
