Liffey Falls

Mon 24 Jan, 2011 4:15 pm

Pleasant walk Sat 22nd Jan. Leaving from lower camping area. Good access to this track . Considering amount of rain , track is dry .Native foxgloves still in flower ( are they native?) Good flows over the falls , spout and cascades made this a good trip. Only concern was a snake wanting to sunbake rather than move.

Nice one, I love the falls. There are some nice little crannies to explore in the area as well. I believe there is a native plant commonly named foxglove but those ones around there (still looking well established) I think are the European or African 'garden' variety (digitalis?). Classed as an environmental weed (and very toxic)... Of course that implies an obligation for the land managers to do something about them....

Thanks Nuts. About the foxgloves ,when you drive up from Liffey to the Lakes road , there are masses of them in a few clearings ,and after looking at the ones i brought back , i think your correct , these arn't the native ones.
