I did this trip a couple of weeks back. I started at Manuka Rd near Tahune Airwalk and walked up Lulworth Spur and along the length of the ridge to Mt Weld. I finished at South Weld Rd. It ended taking me a lazy 8 days. It was in tough scrub for most of the trip and entirely off track. I found a few decent camp sites along the way and it could likely be a bit easier in summer.

Good stuff! I traversed the ridge from Mt Weld to MT Frederick a few years ago, the scrub is still today some of the toughest i've seen.

Epic, well done!!
Nothing to see here.

Nice report Cam. Can't help but think you are nuts though! Bad luck not finding the track out would have made life a bit easier....

PS the CH vid is nearly done and you have made the cut!

Makes my last 3 days wandering about on KW1 by myself look a bit insignificant. Thought I was doing well being out alone in winter in an area I had never been before.
Well done.

Yep tough scrub. I thought about Mt Frederick but I figured if the going was tough then there'd be more of it going that way than Lulworth Spur.

Yep finding the track would have made me a bit happier but atleast I can say I did it all off track  Thats good to hear about the vid. I would like to see it when it's finished as I'm sure there's some great footage of the cape and track work.

Cheers,

Once we got to the lake you may have seen near Frederick (thats where we camped night2) the going got a bit easier. It's the high alpine scrub in tassie thats *&%$#!. It needs to be soooo strong to stand up to the wind we get regularly here.

Ha, you don't neet to convince me. I had a full pack of winter gear to drag through that stuff. I went down to that lake to collect water. It was a relief to get out of the scrub up above for a little bit and walk almost in a straight line
