Anybody out there in the know as the wether the Wielangta Rd is now a thru road again? Last reports they were replacing a bridge. Also if any would like to share camping sites in the area that would be great (drive in). Cheers Col

yes it is open

has been for a few months http://www.forestrytas.com.au/news/2011/05/wielangta-road-reopens

no official camp sites

people do sometimes camp at the 3 Thumbs Picnic Area and at the Sandspit Forest Reserve.

coming from the south there's state forest either side of the road before you get to the Sandspit Forest Reserve ... quite a few tracks going off south, we've camped at one of these a few years back.

Cheers for that, sounds like a reconnaissance drive is in order. Looking for a private spot to bushwack for a week with my four kids, must be able to woodhook. Love this site for useful up-to-date info!

I meant to say "tracks going off East" ...

the area around the track heading toward Mt Walter could be worth having a look at

After Wielangta Road being closed for a year or so, one bridge was fixed to open the road but after a storm last night, another bridge has been washed out near Rheban.

Wielangta Rd is closed again.

And it is definitely open again. Drove from Copping to Orford over both new bridges without incident recently.
