Finding a weather and work window, my mate Tim and I recently decided on a three day trip to Mt Olympus. We planned to catch the ferry to Echo Point, walk a little way up the Overland Track, then plunge into the steep forest that would take us 500 metres higher to a campsite beside Lake Oenone. From there we planned to scramble up Olympus. As there's no track from Echo Point, we gathered three or four different sets of “notes” about how to get there. None of them was exactly precise; nor did any of them agree. “How hard can it be?” and “What could possibly go wrong?” became our catch cries.
In the end, we made our own mistakes, but we got there. More importantly we got back too

I've posted a fuller account, and more piccies, on my (gasp) blog. If you're interested, read here http://www.naturescribe.com/2013/02/the-abode-of-gods.html, and then hit "Newer Posts".
