Thanks for your info & advice.
Just making sure I understand you right, when you say "that first campsite cut into the scrub" you mean the camp half-way up the climb at about contour 560 and not where people have sometimes camped near Bullfrog Tarns?
And you wouldn't camp there because it is too wet or some other reason?

I've been through there when it's uncampable due to pools of water, and also when it's bone-dry. When dry, it's a good spot.

Just back. Group to Pigsty Ponds, some also La Perouse. Return earlier than planned due to pretty extreme weather forecast.
Re. campsite at contour 560 ...
Nice ... for 1 large, 2 small tents, but also you could find at least one more tent spot right behind it into the bush. tucked in to the vegetation, a bit dark, quite a bit of wind funnelling through from NW
30m down the track is another spot, more open, less windy, at the moment good for 1 large, 1 small tent, but could be easily expanded by pushing fallen stuff aside. Thick layer of leaves & twigs, would make a good camp even if it is very wet I'd hope.

Anymore recent updates on the condition of the track or campsites ? also keen for info from Pigsty out to Pinders Peak....thinking about heading there out soon

No recent updates from me personally. Last I ventured out there we met two brothers at Pigsty who just got back from Pindar Peak. They said it that the bush/scrub bashing intensified the closer you got to the Pindar and from memory, the track was less discernable compared to getting to Pigsty.

This is weird, because the track between Ooze and the Pindars turnoff is over some of the most open ground on the Southern Ranges, and it's very well cairned.

Yep great track through there.
Maybe they meant precipitous bluff and not Pindars?
