Hi everyone,

I have written up a trip report for my latest solo adventure. To save hassles of uploading heaps of photos again, you can check it out here on my trip report page.

Great trip report and photos. Cuvier and Goulds Sugarloaf sound very tempting, Manfred I am not so sure! I also struggled with heat, dehydration and scrub finding my way off Thetis to Leonards tarn on Jan 3. I came off far too far to the SW and then had to double back to the tarn. I will never try to bash thru fagus again!
Cheers C

Thanks! I recommend Manfred as a return day trip from Cuvier - much easier.

Nice work Paz, Doogs and I have pretty much decided to head in there (again, for me, but this time I'll do GSL and CH) this weekend seeing the SW is a firey mess.

Manfred is pretty easy off track, but yeah, do it from Cuvier and not up from Lk Marion. It's a bit of a slog from Marion, and has some pretty ordinary sections of overhanging myrtle which is a bugger to push/climb through with packs. Not to mention the cliffs, but they're (as with most forested cliff sections around that area) pretty easy to skirt if you head a couple of hundred metres in the correct direction.

Enjoyed reading the article you wrote Jared. Some aspects reminded me of the time I did the walk and had to descend to the Marion valley, so i dug out the write up and posted in my walking blog.

Nice report, many thanks. I have looked at this wander from Du Cane area wondered how much scrub would be involved.

As Ollster mentioned earlier on in the thread that we had planned to do a similar trip to Pazz a couple of weeks ago, which we did an succeeded. The route we took was from Narcissus over Byron to camp at Cuvier Shelf on the first day, day 2 was out to Goulds Sugarloaf and then dropping down to Lake Petrarch and the final day was the short walk out down the Cuvier Valley.
