Rookery Nook Cave

Fri 27 Sep, 2024 4:13 pm

Hello all,

I've been trying to locate Eric Lowe's Cave "Rookery Nook" but can't find any information online.
I have an idea of the area but the precise location is a mystery to me.

Any info on track notes, co-ordinates, maps etc would be greatly appreciated. Would appreciate a PM if like to keep the location low key.

Kind Regards,
J

Is Rookery Nook aka Dr Dark's Cave? I'm no expert, but looking around the interwebs it looks like it's possible. Plenty of info out there on the location if so.

I don't believe so. I've visited Dr Dark's Cave 2 or 3 times. It doesn't match the description or location that I've read online about Rookery Nook. I would say that they are relatively close to each other, but still a fair walk between them. There is information online that may give some clues, but it might be more difficult to locate and access than Dr Dark's. It appears that the proponent of Rookery Nook may have been an acquaintance of Eric and Eleanor Dark.

It's in Lerida Gorge, though there are at least a couple of different caves, and I'm not clear on exactly which is the "real" Rookery Nook. It seemed to me there was a fair bit of information online. I'd have thought enough to get to at least one of them?

Agreed Tom, not sure why the OP hasn't found those details.
Love a mystery. I read on Dave Noble's blog his most recent trip to Alpheus Canyon/Lerida Gorge.
He has actually found three caves, leaving questions as to the "real" Rookery Nook.
If it isn't outrageously difficult I might have a look myself at some point.
