Three heads are better than one...

G'day folks,

This weekend I was reminded exactly why I love walking in winter. In the course of a simple day trip we had sunny blue skies, interesting fluffy clouds, gloomy storm fronts, three kinds of precipitation (snow, sleet and rain), wild winds, eerie stillness, and plenty more. It really allows you to see the beauty of nature, as everything is seen in so many different lights.

Anyway, we explored a very easy area in the upper Grose Valley, near Mt Victoria. A good chunk was on tracks, but there was plenty of opportunity for walking off track, finding some easy passes, scrambling over interesting rock formations and strolling through surprisingly pristine bushland (considering how accessible it is). We visited Asgard, Thor and Valhalla Heads. We also checked out the nice camp site near Asgard Head, the old 1880's mine, and the views down to Victoria Falls.

I intend to go back out here with the kids some time soon. I think it has something for everyone, while still being physically very easy.

My full trip report, along with a heap of photos, is here: http://fatcanyoners.org/2012/07/01/asgard-thor-valhalla-heads/

Absolutely. I am so disappointed with myself for not discovering him (or his shed of wonder) for so long. There is something so fulfilling about talking with someone who really knows their *&%$#! and coming up with a precise, personalised pack. I can't wait to use it!

Yep, I've had a couple of packs repaired and my Macpac Torre supersized, which has been such an awesome load carrier.
:) Let us know how your new pack goes.
