Yeah you need young, slightly chubby, and of course free range walkers. Not one of those city blokes filled with chemicals.

Hehe well if your going to eat your partner you would want an organic feed. I wonder if 'grass fed' could be a selling point?

How many takes did it take to shoot that with a straight face?

I didn't think the American sense of humour stretched that far!

I like the 'Pearce' comment above. The movie was unwatchable. I knew how it was going to end.

It's odd how things pop up. I was given Paul Collins' "Hell's Gates" book in September and only just pulled it out and into the meat of the book when wayno posted this thread up.

The book is about Alexander Pearce, at 1st glance I thought it was the movie script hence putting it to one side. But no it is a really well researched and written account of Pearce and the whole environment that lead him to Tasmania and his adventures. Written a little here and there for an international audience so some things grate a touch as telling us the obvious to an Australian reader, but this is a very very minor grumble.

It may have helped that I read" Gould's Book Of Fish" in the Autumn, Hell's Gates has complemented the history noted in the former book.

I can recommend it to anyone with an interest in Tas history and / or the Pearce story.

If you think about the movie alive, the remaining men would not have survived if they did not eat the dead. As hard as it is for us to think about eating a person most of us eat meat everyday. Meat is meat and if u i was faced with starvation or a bit of rump i know what id do.

Turn the question around, would you be happy for your fellow adventurers or family to eat your meat should you be the first to go, and survive? Maybe there can be a donor card made for the purpose. LOL

Agree. Your dead and if eating my yummy meat can save someone else then go for it. Better having some people survive than having everyone dying while theres food in front of them.
