Walking in the Byadbo Wildnerness

Sun 31 Jan, 2016 3:41 pm

I'm reading a wonderful book on the Bundian Way by John Blay which has sparked my curiosity about walking in the Byadian wilderness on the bottom end of the Kosciuszko National Park. I cannot find too much information on-line, and Charles Warner's book (Bushwalking in the Kosciusko National Park) has some information. I was thinking about heading into this area sometime in autumn or spring this year.

Does anyone have any information about this area? There seems to be some firetrails, which I would be keen to keep off. What's the scrub like? Has it been affected by bushfires in recent years and thick undergrowth. Warner indicates that water is a problem - is this still the case.

I was thinking about a 3-5 day trip, so any suggestions would be very welcome.

Kind regards

Terry
