After New Year will probably try to get back over to the Fortress for further exploration. Then over to Tassie in March. :D :D :D

Enjoy it! Just got back from there a few days ago.

Just a heads up though, the water tank at Federation Hut is not in operation, so you'll need to grab water from either the Feathertop Springs along the Tom Kneen Track (just before it swings to cross the narrow upper NW Spur), or from Feathertop Hut springs.

Probably easier to get it from Tom Kneen Track to be honest, plus its a nicer walk with nicer views. :)

Thanks for the heads up Ryan, although I never rely on the tank at Fed Hut this time of year anyway. Far too many people out there using it.
It should be a nice stroll, the weather up there is looking excellent for the next few days. I would like to stay longer but my Son can only get a leave pass for a couple of days.
