StepWhere Website

Fri 11 Jul, 2008 11:02 am

Hi All

I stumbled across the StepWhere? site a year or so back.
Thought people would appreciate it as a resource.

Its a bit of a Google-Maps hash-up, which allows you to plot (with GPS) or draw routes on a map (and provides the ability to annotate points of interest, and get elevation and distance information).

Note that it does list walking / running routes worldwide, so you may need to search for routes near Tasmania for a start...

(for any bike-riders out there, the sister site Bikely may be of interest)

Cheers
Mark :)

Hi Mark, What a fabulous site, I love the topo maps. They show up the sometimes insignificant subleties of various terrains. I'll be joining and when I'm settled I might chase you up via this forum for more information.

Yeah that is a great site. I'm continually suprised at the number of trails already on Google maps, but I think it would be a really useful resource if it had more routes. For Tasmania that is.

There is a similar site http://www.sharemyroutes.com

It is quite a nifty site, but only has 3 Tas walks so far, it was mentioned in Bushwalks-Tas some time back (which is where I
learnt about it)
