... or don't think I'll ever learn, I get caught every time - just because I know that I can drive somewhere in a certain time, everybody else on the road doesn't seem to know that and drives at about three quarters of the speed limit, added to that is that there are likely to be roadworks with delays, or it's rush hour in town

Luckily I have learnt to factor in some leeway to my times, just not enough. I'm too much of an optimist I think.

If you take Drambuie with you on a snow camping trip, take enough to last the whole trip or take none at all. Running out halfway through is just too much to bear.

Sometimes, one little screw can stuff up the best laid plans . . .

See, I copped a puncture on the way to work on Saturday morning. And by the time I'd finished my shift and changed the wheel, there was nowhere open where I could get the flat repaired, and no way was I going out bush without a spare.
One wasted weekend. :(

The greater the amount of alcohol consumed the lower the need for gloves  Handy to remember if you melt your gloves

Ummmm . . . not quite. Alcohol constricts peripheral blood vessels, doesn't it? You might feel warmer, but you're more likely to get frostbite or at least hyperthermia.

Just because your "misplaced" party members are well equipped and well experience does not mean you do not worry as well.

Yeah sorry, Corvus.

I learned that one and Phil's head lamp with flat battery lesson all in one day on Saturday.

What an educational trip it was!

Take it easy and try not to perspire. Layer your clothing so you can take off or put on as needed. If you do perspire dry your clothing before bedding down at night or change your clothing. If you have damp clothing in winter you will get cold at night.

1) Take your powder horn off and put it in your shelter before making fire!
2) Don't leave food where possums can get at it!

looking for dry wood? Look up, not down, it's still stuck on the tree.Lots of dead branches that have been drying out in the air.

If you say you'll meet up for coffee ion the arvo with your better half after her haircut, and instead go peak bagging and leave her an SMS, expect retribution. (got the peak done before sundown though, so it was worth it...)
