Since we have to cross one of our grassy paddocks to reach the boundary fence, we very often have wet joggers, wet socks and wet feet by the time get there. I can't say this has ever worried us. We just dry everything during the day, either in the sun or in front of the fire. This has always seemed 'normal' to us.

Exactly. It doesn't bother you. It is unbearable for me. People are different.

OK, people are different. I totally agree.

But I reject the accusation of proselitising. I have very good reasons for suggesting light joggers and fairly short (wool!) socks. Please remember that I too wore big heavy leather boots for many years. Paddy-made boots even!
Consider the following:

These were very good trips, but you would not want to do them in boots. You get instant wet feet on them: its unavoidable (look at the jungle beside the creeks!).
With boots you would have these huge buckets of water on your feet for the next half day.
With light joggers most of the water has been squeezed out in the next 30 seconds. Big deal.

Yes, I am biased.

"I'm not doing that" he says, still doing it.
I guess they're wrong; there are greater zealots than reformed smokers.

Can we just draw a line under this one? I thought I'd be telling an amusing anecdote about searching a frozen hillside at 3:30am, barefoot, by torchlight, not debating the merits of different styles of footwear.

You do have some...um...additional adventures, nnw. You got your boots back?

Fortunately, yes. They didn't get that far and were only nibbled around the edges rather than fully consumed. But it did make for an interesting night, although trying to walk out the next day in just socks may have been even more "interesting" ...

Where(roughly) were you? What was eating them?

I'm completely with you on footwear. I have to keep my feet dry or they disintegrate into blistered mush.

Near the incredibly appropriately named Frozen Lagoon (although pretty well every body of water was iced over, so ...). Probably quoll. Toothmarks are too small and neat for a devil or brushtail (not that I've ever heard of possums eating boots but brushtails are not picky).

Feet are such annoying things. Essential but *&%$#! fussy.
