A little morning stroll before the rain. A short 7km round trip down to Rainbow Beach across to Grants Beach and back to Bonny Hills. Whale watching too.

I squelched in the mud for a quick burn around some local tracks on Mt Coot-tha. More fitness than anything but the falls were in fine form with the rain we've had.

With the way it rained in the past 48ish hours up until this morning, it's a wonder you didn't drown

Hey I was just pleased to have a leech free walk this week. Better than the other week when I gave up counting at 100. Eeek! But yes it was a tad slick on and off the track

Walked from Lindfield to seaforth, in the rain. About 16km and my new Mountain Design Paclight Gortex coat wasn't up to the job. Nice walk though.

I was in Melbourne for the weekend and we spent a day on Philip Island. We walked the Woolamai circuit and our son also took us on some short excursions to check out some waves he hopes to surf.

I took my 8 year old boys to the cathedral ranges where we walked up to neds saddle then up to neds peak for lunch then back down and along the little river track, very nice it was too.

Lerderderg Gorge, camped on the river near the base of Cowans track. A bit of rain overnight but walking was very pleasant especially when the sun came out on Sunday.
One of our party had an encounter with a wild pig and sadly there was evidence of a lot more than one in the area.

I spent the weekend scrambling over wet pagodas and through a maze of wet cracks and canyons on Donkey Mountain in the Wolgan Valley.

I walked along the shores of lake Burley Griffin on Saturday ... not the nicest day, the rain was cold.





Today I'm going to walk along the Old National Horse Trail from Dunlop, then through the Belconnen golf course to climb the hill behind the vineyard in Holt. I'm doing a painting of the Brindies at the moment. I was doing the painting in Karma Nature Reserve, but the reserve and other reserves close by have been closed for a couple of weeks for the atrocious ACT Government's triennial Kangaroo slaughter (2000+ Roos are being green dreamed by the ACT Government this time). Hopefully I'll find a new spot today, to restart the painting. I've spent a week looking for a similar location, with similar trees to those of Karma, with no joy. Hopefully I'll spot a good site from this hill.

We spent Sunday doing the Three Creeks Walk described in Glenn Tempest's new book "Melbourne's Western Gorges". It's the last day of the Burchell Trail, which I would like to do someday, so I jumped at the opportunity to join a few others and see what the Brisbane Ranges are like. I've never been there before and it is nothing dramatic, but the scenery has a gentle charm of its own and the gold mining relics provide some interesting historical context to the region. We climbed some great mullock heaps for good views and there were several picnic grounds for civilised food breaks. I didn't take photos of the fun bits like climbing up and down hills and river banks, as the mud and loose rocks were a bit slippery.







It poured buckets of rain in Melbourne so we were far better off getting away from it all. We ended up having a fun walk and relatively good weather.
