Can anyone solve a mystery for me?

I was reading over some old Wild magazines on the weekend and I came across a well written piece by John Turnbull in the spring edition from 1983. It was entitled "Alpine Hideaway" and was part of a larger article by ted Minty called "Winter Wonderland". I remember reading the article at the time and wondering about the location of the hut the author described. He said it was not marked on the map and was not listed on the KHA's site. It contained newspapers and magazines from the 1940's when he stumbled upon it. Does anyone know the whereabouts of this old mountain hut? The article even contained a picture showing a solid looking vertical slab hut with chimney situated above the snow line in scattered timber.

Kossie area or Hotham / Falls area?
There is the old Red Hut off to the north of the Falls Creek Road, I have not visited that tho.

The article is deliberately vague but my sense is the Ksci. area and probably the northern end.

Hey,
that's a pretty hard one. It could be Mount Kosciuszko Area but I am completely unsure.
Did you find out the correct answer in the meantime?

Before Kossie became a National Park there must have been a few people building small fishermans huts, I guess this was one of those.

John Turnbull was a fly fisherman, so it will presumably be near a river. Do you recall the wording in the article? There are a few "surprise" huts in the Geehi area, which are not obvious- eg Doctors Hut, and another near the junction of he Swampy and Geehi. Beyond that I wouldn't be surprised if it was on the Murrumbidgee somewhere.
