Bushwalk Australia

Does anyone know of any Land Navigation Courses in the Sydney area?
Looking for one for my nephew who is new to bushwalking.
I could probably do with a refresher too.

A couple of options:
- some of the bushwalking clubs provide navigation training, however you really need to be a regular/active member to get the most benefit. I understand sydney bushwalkers have nav training as part of their induction process.
- Rogaining Associations (ACT and NSW have held courses as a 2-day workshop, however none are currently scheduled)

Probably be a good idea for him to get involved with a club. That will let him get some experience in a safe environment.

Subw do a navigation walk every year . I can highly recommend it! Great way to learn some skills and meet like minded people

That website is so thorough you actually hardly *need* the walk after. It just becomes a great opportunity to put it into practice.

Thanks for everyone's assistance. He's busy checking out everyone's suggestions.
I tried to show him what I had been I learned from the army but we quickly learned you can't have the two dogs in the one yard.

That's where I learnt to navigate too, but I've never been a big fan of walking in straight lines, so my style is somewhat different these days. It's still handy though. I can blame the government any time I get lost!
