Next trip?

What do people have planned? As for me when I get a couple of spare days I would like to head down to the Bogong Peaks wilderness of the Northern Snowies. This is an area I have never visited before. I have mapped out a route of about 125ks starting at the Thomas Boyd tack head of the Hume and Hovel walking track. This gives access to the Waragong FT the main track through the length of the Bogong Peaks Wilderness. I will follow this with a possible camp on Rings Ck right through to Michelago FT and then onto the Goobarragandra Powerline rd for a short way before turning off onto the Jounama FT at the back of Yarrangobilly. From here I will pick up the Horse Shoe Trail which runs almost due north back to the Goobarragandra River. I will then follow this back down to the Thomas Boyd trackhead to complete the circuit. I've never visited this area before and thought this may be a good introduction.

I'll be bumming around Tasmania for a couple of months over summer, going for walks whenever I feel like it.

Cuvier Shelf with some exploring, maybe out to Goulds Sugarloaf or Manfred.
Federation Peak and surrounds
Frankland Range
Western Arthurs

Throw in some day trips and that'll keep me busy until March I reckon :)

Not exactly walking but I'll be bicycle touring in Tassy for a couple of weeks in late March next year.
As plenty of the forum members here seem to live in that other little country across the Bass Strait I'm wondering if I could get some very generalised opinions on the weather at this time of year and rough ideas on a good route (keep it clean). :D
Only been to Tas once and did a quick 8 day round trip. I loved it. I have seventeen days all up this time including 2 days on the boat across from the big country.
Any suggestions would be very welcome as 8 days just wasn't enough to really get a feel for the place although a really liked what I saw.

I should add that I'll be fully self-supported ie. tent, stove etc, camping most nights and not afraid of the hills/mountains.

G'day higher country
I'm not a bicycle tourer but I can let you know of a couple of highways I would avoid due to the trucks that use them. The bass, midlands, and east tamar highway are bad for trucks and can be avoided if you do a round trip of the island. Maybe start another thread asking people of the good spots to stop and any good walks on your route.

My next trip is ducane traverse starting from the ducane end. Leave Tuesday. Weather looks ok-ish so hopefully it's clear enough to get some views.

Thanks Scotty.
I'm planning on a round trip, start and finish at Devenport.
I'll take your advise and avoid those highways.

Definently do an overnight trip on foot from Cradle Mountain to Scott Kilvert hut or beyond. If you can find some where to secure your bikes (maybe just in the bush if no where else) that woul be a must considering it's on the round trip

Pulling out doesn't work in the long run. I'm sure you'll be back.

I definitely have to get there eventually but some family issues mean staying home has to take priority for the moment. I guess its a good opportunity for short daily wanders to get the fitness back to where it should be before I tackle anything too strenuous again! :)

I got a few KG's to lose before I get any walking done (I had fun this winter!!), but when I drop around 20 - 30, I'll be heading to the Main Range for a week or so, my annual pilgrimage to Mt Feathertop, maybe a few days at Mt Buffalo, and would really like to get up to Mt Howitt for a few days.

Also looking for a week or so of camping and touring up at Pretty Valley, but that's a different story.
