Bushwalking Quote of the Day from My 7 Year Old

Postby Son of a Beach » Thu 10 Oct, 2013 2:57 pm

Half way up the Horse Track (Cradle Mtn) this afternoon she says to me:

My legs hurt but I feel great!

What a little trooper! :-)

Will this be a daily thing? I know I'd definitely read it.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

The future bodes well for her with that attitude :)

Yes Corvus, I didn't time the walk but they both walked well the whole way this time. I reckon they did it all in well under an hour and carried full back packs (all their own clothes plus books and craft stuff).

We will be hut bound all day today, I think (wind, rain and cold) so all the craft, books and activities will come in handy.

I brought a huge text book to read in preparation for an exam in a few weeks.

It was a great trip the first time up here when you were hut warden (5 years ago!). We've been here almost every year since, and missed just one year.

It snowed around dinner time last night and there was a light dusting on everything this morning. The kids are loving it. Although the rain has just about washed it all away now.

I did a huge fry up on the BBQ on the deck for breakfast this morning. Bacon eggs and tomatoes. Luxury.

I'm pretty sure that this is a known trait of a true bushwalker. ;)

Close. On Saturday it was more a case of "I feel like 8^$#&* but at least I'm out walking".
"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens."
