Packing for a walk this morning I tried on my boots knowing that last time I used them they were getting a little painful to wear (very old, shrunk, stiff). Sure enough, without even putting any weight on my feet, they were too painful. I had to toss them into the bin - they were starting to fall apart as well. Several seams were coming unstiched, and bits falling off the soles. Ten years is pretty good for a pair of boots though, I reckon.
They were only my third ever pair of boots, each pair having lasted for about 10 years each. Time to start looking for new ones.
In the mean time, I'm going to have to wear my sneakers this time around. And they're nearly falling apart too. I hope they last. Thankfully it's a fairly tame walk, with only a short easy off-track section.
Last weekend I didn't even try the boots on. I walked bare foot the whole two days. I'd like to do that again this time around, but my calf muscles haven't recovered enough to do it again yet (yes, my feet are fine - it's the legs that suffer from walking bare foot).
