I would like to get my mate in his 70s out bush.
He has 2 replaced knees. Anyone have good tips for moving a mate up and down a hill. Thinking lawn chair and poles! Anyone done this?

I read about these when we were at Wilson's Prom last year. Don't know if there would be any near you but might be worth ringing NPWS to see.

I haven't done this, but if I did, it wouldn't be on my own.
Wrangle help from friends and acquaintances. You probably need a minimum of two at all times, and you need to transport more than the average to give comfort and safety to someone like this, so probably four people to help with transport and gear carrying. If he has a regular carer, see if you can get them to come too.
Don't even think about it if he doesn't want to go.

If the mate can walk, which sounded to be the case on the flat, then probably best to just support him and let him walk slowly. Double knee replacement (if functional) shouldn't be a restriction to walking up an easy hill. Probably better to find a route that has easier grade than trying to carry him. More likely to lead to tears for all.

I would look into a wheelchair or even a handcycle. I have also seen a one-wheeled chair designed to be pushed / dragged by two people like a pulk.
Edit: the one wheeled chair is just like the one in the link above.
