Ah, Photohiker, perhaps you fall into the same trap as those that think the Universe has a purpose.
I forget how or where, but I suspect it was here( on this site) that I followed thru on a recommendation to read this:
The Gentle Art Of Tramping by Stephen Graham.
I find it beautiful - I am only half way thru, It is my reach for book when I get time to dream.
Just looked up the book and I've got to say nothing gentle about the price of it.
Kind of difficult topic really when you think about it. Sometimes you just go for a walk but you take the dogs with you, so is it walking the dogs or just taking a stroll with your mates. When you pick out, say a circuit to do, does it now have a purpose to get you back to the start.
Our are they meaning simply to go 'Bush'. I'm good at that but your topic is right, for me doing this is getting less frequent. Now having to organize things to fit a trip in somewhere.
Mmmm.... I wonder if the book is on Kindle
