In Devonport it seems to be a rite of passage for parents of primary age kids to spend every winter Saturday freezing and watching their kids play soccer, and our youngest isn't stopping with the end of primary school, so it's just going to keep going. He wants to play professionally, so does that mean we'll be doing this for the rest of our lives

With any luck, if he goes all the way, your retirement will be v. comfortable

Of course, the weather stuffed that, so I ended up doing some practice 4WDing on one or two of the simpler tracks near Wombargo and then up near the Snowy River, and having a lovely peaceful little amble along the river from Sandy Creek to somewhere south of Barrabilli. Fun.
