Name that bone...

Location...No-name peak cairn in Glen Rock State Forest, Qld.

Only took a couple of pics of it at the time, but now that I've looked at
it a few times...curiosity is getting the better of me.
The 2rows of pits must be a giveaway to someone.

Animal breast bone, skull or something else entirely...Any ideas ?

Bit hard to get an idea of size from the photo. The holes may indicate a bird. Could be the keel section of the breastbone. Then again I could be completely wrong.

Cheers,
Michael.

Thanks all....after a little detective work,
I'm pretty sure it's a part from a species of duck.

Vertebrae attached to one end...tail to the other, back leg socket housed in the middle.
I'm no bone specialist though...so always open to other theories. Heron, Cormorant ?

Found while mooching along a steep spur in the Main Range NP, Qld.
Fitted in the palm of my hand & by the look of the teeth, guessing a sure footed wallaby of some kind...

Came across this not far from the Little Deadmans Bay campsite a few years back.

Always assumed it was a devil or a quoll, but the size of the eye sockets seems much more like a cat. Didn't realiser they were that far into the WHA? Image

The dentition does not look like a cat's.

Very likely to be a cat. Search Google images for: cat skull diagram.

Ummm... Ok, agree there's resemblance. Just didn't match my memory of cat skulls. The k9 looked pretty big in this case.
