I'm not sure where to post this, but Keithy one of my best friends, and an active member on here has passed away.

He was doing the Jatbula Trail and something went wrong and he didn't make it.

Keith didn't have social media, so it's hard to let his friends outside of our circle know the tragic news.

I'm really sad to hear about Keith's death.

I always enjoyed reading his very well researched discussions and reviews on equipment. He was very good with electrical and navigation stuff. I will miss not reading those any more.

He was a great asset to this furum and will be sadly missed by many.

We certainly didn't call him the gadget man for nothing. He always had some electrical gizmo on him... even had these handwarmer things that plugged into a powerbank he would stuff into his sleeping bag before bed.

He once came on a hike, and I heard him before I saw him. He had a 12v fan attached to his bag blowing into the back of his head.
The trees were bushy but I could hear this buzzing noise through the trees.

Recently he bought a jimny, but he had about 3 cigarette lighter adapters plugged into it for more sockets.

Certainly a character.

Keithy was very helpful and informative on here. I always learned something reading his posts.
It's very sad news.

Josh, my condolences to you and any others who knew keithy. I did not know him, other than through reading his very informative posts here. When I bought a GPS device and struggled to get concise answers to issues I found confusing, he set me on the right track every time. He was never patronising when dealing with any of my naive queries. It's very sad to read that his knowledge will no longer be shared on this forum.

Very sorry to hear this news. keithy was a valued member of the forum.

His posts were always informative and made a contribution to the bushwalking online community.

He was a member of bushwalk.com for almost 8 years and made 737 posts. Over 43% of those in the technology section of the forum.

He also loved ultra light daypacks and made some of the most extensive reviews and comparisons of these packs that I've seen on the forum.

So thought I could reach out here and try my luck.

Thanks to those who knew him and your kind words. He loved hiking all over the world, he certainly lived his life to the fullest.

I really appreciated his ‘packable day pack’ reviews. Though I didn’t know him personally, the thing about being a forum member is that people we never meet can feel like people we know.

So sad, and thank you for posting. I always found his technical posts very informative.

Very sorry to hear this. Like many I appreciated Keithy's input to the technical forums. As a GPS novice, I found his posts on the subject invaluable.

Keith was a great resource to the forum, and his posts on batteries, chargers, headlamps and GPS were always good.

He also did great, in depth reviews that were always interesting.

He was also an active member over at CandlePowerForums.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear this tragic news.

Keithy has been a fantastic source of anything technical and has been most helpful to all here. Learnt and discussed so many issues with him through the years on this forum. Never controversial but just facts and knowledge for the community. I recall him sending me a rubber wrap for my Garmin that he DIY‘ed from some old inner tyre tubes to solve a problem I was facing. Ever so helpful. This is a really sad loss.

Condolences to his family and hope his memory will live on.

I only knew him vicariously through this site and, like many have already stated, I valued his erudite contributions ot the tech and GPS forum.
