Hi there i im new in here i was just wondering if someone could tell me if the suspention bridge on the way to Lees paddock was re opened .
as i read that it had been washed away back in 2008 can anyone HELP me .

About 3 hours, could be more or less depending on your walking pace.

Members i have read almost all reports on lees paddocks and i cant wait to head off in the morning with a few mates '
from the Tassiepaddlers crew as we have never been there before .
But in saying that i have fished lake rowallan and parrangana most of my life and walked up to Gadds falls last year.
just to let you know im not that new to Bushwalking i have done some tripslike
mount roland,loonganna track from Gunnsplains,winterbrook falls track,Black bluff 19 times not sure why just to name some

G'day simmo,
One of the most underrated walks in our area only 7 odd km but magnificent wet rain forest for most of the way check out both Oxley and Lewis Falls,
if you have time wander up the Wurragarra creek to the "cauldron" and in the other direction to Ladder falls.
With good weather the tranquility of this valley is as perfect as you could want anywhere.

Well everyone ,we are back from the wilderness.
This is how it went Bulldog ,Yakka Dave a Jake arrived at my place at 6:45 saturday, we loaded up and hit the road
to lake rowallan.
Arriving at the car park we put our packs on and started our walk to Lee's Paddock.
The day was cool with a misty rain so
the walk should be a nice comfortable one we soon arrived at the suspention bridge and not long after we reached PINE HUT.
we stoped for a coffee and a snack then continued on towards LEE'S PADDOCK this was to be a wet and slippry trip,
it wasn't long and we were
walking in mud and crossing alot of small creek's caused by the rain we have had of late.
we were about 1and a half hours in and i ( simmo) slipped and face planted into a mud puddle, but unhurt i was soon back up and going
what a fantastic walk to LEE'S PADDOCK .
This was my first trip into LEE'S PADDOCK and i was impressed with the scenery.
We soon arrived at the foot bridge across to LEE'S HUT this was a tat dangerous as the river was running rapidly and the foot bridge was very
slippery but we mad it over .
As the weather was closing in real quick and it was getting colder by the minuite.
we went to lit a fire in the hut to get warm but to our suprize there was no wood so we went on a hunt and found some .
Hard to get a fire going with wet wood.
we have left this wood for others to use ,so we cooked up a feed and hit the sack.
Up early this morning we packed up and before
leaving we left some spare rehydratable food inside an old cream can inside the HUT for the next Bush walker that may need it.
once again all i can say is it was a great bushwalk for our first over nighter

Good post Simmo.
Just a wee smack on the hand for you if you carry it in you carry it out leaving stuff for others to use is not considered good etiquette nor practice as we are expected to carry in enough to eat for however long we intend staying in the area and not need to scavenge for possibly "out of date" tucker.
Eventually someone has to carry out the leftover "garbage" empty wine and spirit bottles included

Good one Simmo, glad you had fun. With all the weather we've been having the track would be muddier than usual. Did you check out the falls on the Mersey? I imagine they would have been great, especially on Sunday.

or an emergancy situation.But i take it we have done wrong and i /we hope there is never an emergancy up there.

Looks like you had a bit of water on the track, eh?

Leaving food in huts is weird one. At first, it seems like the right thing to do, but the end result is that there ends up being a lot old packets of stuff lying around in the huts, and it eventually becomes a nuisance. So parks advise people not to do it anymore, and to carry out everything you take in with you.

I'm not sure about the situation at Lees Hut, as it is a private hut (which they allow others to use).

Anyhow, thanks for the photos - it really is a great area. I'm hoping to go there twice this summer. Once with my 3 year old (will be 4 then), and once with my Dad (he will be 69 then and has a prosthetic hip). Dad, who got me into walking in the first place, keeps complaining that he's never going to be able to do any real bushwalking again, but I reckon he'll be fine getting into Lees, and maybe even take the packs off and walk on to Wadleys for a look (which I think is even nicer).

Hiya FF, Yeah Lees is always a good place to go, and I agree with others Wadleys is even better, hmm, a few days added with a pickup arranged and the central plateau is your oyster (I meant our)

Great to hear that you enjoyed the walk. Wow, the track was certainty wetter than we went in. Great little "bridge" just before the hut, eh? I think getting across that without falling in is a test of nerve and balance. Still you looked well equipped for the wander.

I couldn't agree more Brett, That right hand log is very dodgy ( on the way in ). We were there a few days before you simmo and the track was not that wet so it came up fairly quickly. When we went to the hut other thoughtful walkers had left plenty of leftover food. A little bit of thought must be used as there were plastic honey containers there and these only invited the local rodent population in to have a smorgasbord and they made a mess of everything and over everything!!! Half empty glass containers of pasta sauce aren't of any use to anyone either. Being a fairly assessable area and although private people stay here regularly and there are no arrangements to keep it clean, we spent some time cleaning the hut on our visit and carried out all the spoilt food, put some in the cream containers. Hopefully this will keep the rodents at bay as they were in the process of eating everything beds included. Not banging the point home, just an opportunity to point out what happens with left over food. Oh and on the way out the little bridge was frozen over, now there's a challenge!!!

Thanks for looking after the hut and carrying out the waste. More than one hut up north is privately own but left open by the owners for all to enjoy so lets us all look after them to avoid locks and do not trespass signs. It is great when people look after Parks ones as well unlike a certain bunch from a Melbourne private school.

I was there this time last year and after watching the 1st person of our party cross the "bridge", the rest of us opted to walk through the creek. I absolutely did NOT have the nerve to use those planks!

I seem to be the odd one out here, but I didn't particularly like this section of the walk. I was going from walls to cradle via lees.
Loved camping by the Mersey at the beginning and very picturesque once in the open section near Lees hut, but in between I remember as mostly mud and no views. Hmm, interesting that we have such different views.
