I need twelve stout men (or women)

G'day all
(Parks hat on)
We have recently completed a fair amount of rockwork on the walking track across Eliza plateau to Mt Anne, despite summer snow, 100km/h winds etc. The work was aimed at the most eroded sections on a couple of small rises, and the boggy crossings across the moors, obviously to pull up some of the environmental damage that was going on up there. The vast majority of the work has been done but there is a couple of short sections left to do to pretty much harden the entire track to Anne. Due to $ we will have trouble getting this last bit finished alone.
SO...
Would anybody out there be interested in a working bee weekend on the plateau to basically move some rock into these short sections. Still just a thought at this stage, but it would require a one night camp up top, and a couple of hours work on a Saturday and Sunday. About all I can offer in return would be the fine company of a couple of Parks staff and some not bad views (weather pending).
As I say, just a thought at this stage, keen to hear back.
Cheers
Binder
PS, will be appearing live at Lake Rhona this weekend, so might catch one or two of you up there.

I doubt I can (I'm booked out on weekends for the next couple of months), but would be interested in future. I think this is a great initiative.

Not sure yet, would probably be one weekend within the next two months before the weather goes pear shape. Will try to give as much notice as possible.
Cheers

Send Air Ticket

Seriously, love to help but I'm not much of a pack horse.
You guys should do this kind of stuff more often. If it was on when I'm around I'd be there.

Would love to be able to offer air support, will keep working on that. I'm keen to try this idea out, and if it works OK then maybe make it a more regular thing in the SW. I've got a few hoops to jump through at my end to make it happen, but nothing unsurmountable..
I figure you lot are kitted up for camping out, and like being out there so it's worth a try.
Cheers

I work most weekends so can't make it. But I was there last week and can say the track workers are a couple of great guys who are very proud of the job that they are doing

G'day Binder,
Can you get any help from Wild Care as this may cover the inevitable insurance demon ?

Thanks Corvus (and others).
Working on the Wild care idea at the moment as a way around the aforementioned 'hoops'.

When I was up there last week I told the trackworkers that they had te office with the best view in Tasmania. I liked this photo, and this seemed like an appropriate place to post it!

Hello Binder
Someone you are familiar with, Greg Kidd is interested. I might be to, but depends on dates, weather and a few other things. I wouldn't mind doing the circuit over Sarah Jane and then stopping off to help for a coupe of days at the end. An option for both of us is weekday; I guess you wouldn't be worried when people help if you already have track workers there.
To take up the Wildcare matter mentioned in other posts; you could always run the thing through the Friends of Mt Field to save setting up something new through Wildcare.
Cheers to you Brendan and hope the Rhona visit was fruitful.
