Performance Fabrics - Where to buy?

Ok so i should probably put this in the DIY section, but it is likely to be seen more here :P

So i am after some fabric, of the momentum/epic/event genre (waterproof breathable), but i was hoping for an Australian (Tasmanian?) supplier.
I know i can get all of this and more from the USA, but if i can support local, that would be a preference for me.

So, does anyone know anywhere in Aus that sells performance outdoor fabrics?

because most manufacturing is done overseas now, i'd doubt there is a supplier down under.
Asia would probably be the closest supplier.

That's what I have been thinking, but I do know that there are a couple of Australian companies, and they must get it from somewhere... Probably overseas also...

Hi Macca81,
Not aware of any Aussie companies.
These are the US companies that I am aware of.

www.thru-hiker.com for the momentum.
There's a UK site that sells pertex for around $4 a metre and some other WPB fabrics. I can't remember the site but a Google of pertex fabric and it comes up quick.
DIY gear supply is a good one.

As usual, roger caffin has a fairly long list of local and overseas suppliers. However the chance of local fire-tex/wpb seems slim.

i don't have any performance fabrics, but I did bring with me about 3.5 m of thru-hiker silnylon, bright yellow-gold (it should be about 1.6m wide)--this is reportedly the most waterproof of the available silnylons. I ordered it for something I didn't get around to making. I also threw about 3 m of no-see-um netting into my suitcase. I'm heading to Sydney on the Indian Pacific today, then melbourne nexxt week. if anybody wants some or all of either, send an email--my
American phone isn't working here. email is paperhater@sbcglobal.net. I won't have access till I get to Sydney on 4th
april. I paid $12.95/yd for it, US$.The noseeum netting I bought so long ago I don't remember, so say $5/m. If anybody wants some, I can post it from Sydney or Melbourne up untill 13th April.

If you're determined to source it locally then you could try Wilderness Wear. They manufacture in Melbourne.
