MYO modified OR Seatle sombrero rain hat..,.fail

Fell hard on my butt today….

I’ve always thought that I could sew anything. Sadly have to say “Nup”

Decided to make a modified Outdoor Research Seatle
Sombrero , aimed to be a bit more like a southwester, with dropped sides and front, and longer tail - the Sombrero is flat, and tends to be quite wind affected imho.

I had some old leaking Goretex waders which I cut up for the project.

No issue making the crown, but trying to make a 3 layer brim with drops on sides and front was way too complex, which is presumably why the OR model has a flat brim.

Will try again sometime, but it was confronting to just pick up the bits, and throw them in the bin this arvo.

Glad I paid $100 for a new Seattle sombrero for trip next weekend!
