As per the
Tyvek discussion...
OK Those of you who have been lucky enough to find a builder who was using it, well done! I've been hunting around for a while and can't find a suppler for the stuff that will sell it by the metre - all by the 30 metre roll.
So in true spirited fashion, I have bought a 30 metre roll and will onsell at cost to anyone on this forum.
Bunnings won't sell by the metre and their roll price is (as of a phone call just verified) $222.
Home hardware sell a roll for $185.75, not by the metre.
Mitre 10 sell a roll for $159 and also not by the metre.
The roll is 2.7 metres wide, I will sell to anyone from the forum who wants some by the metre length for $5 plus postage, or you can collect it from me.
I do believe I will have it in my posession as of tomorrow.
PM me if interested.

I now have it. It is indeed the Tyvek Homewrap. 2.7 metres wide.
It's good stuff - I can't rip it! I must confess I was a bit skeptical, but I am impressed.
I'll probably keep 5 metres or so for myself, and with orders placed I now have 20 metres available to anyone that wants some.
Inspection invited if you are local to Devonport area.

I can thoroughly recommend this stuff. I bought a sheet on ebay when I bought my tent three years ago. Wouldn't leave home without it.

It's been selling well. I still have some left - sing out if you're thinking about it.
To those that bought it - I recommend putting the white side up and the logo to the ground in case the coloured logo comes off on your stuff.
Cheers!

According to Google's 'Webmaster Tools', of all the search queries that Google gets that points to this site, number 16 on the list is currently the search: 'tyvek'.

Yeah, it's probably more popular than eBay Tyvek.
We have a couple of new members just beacuse of the Tyvek.
I can always buy another roll if it proves too popular - my service to the local bushwalking community

I wonder if we can get Tyvek with the BWT logo printed on it?

For those wondering, one or two metres anywhere in Australia is $5.50 postage because it comes in at under 500 grams.
3 or more metres (up to 3KG's) is $9.60 postage anywhere in Australia. 3 metres is just over 500 grams so it has to go in the 3KG bag.
Come to think of it, I aren't sure I would fit more than 4 metres in a 3kg bag so if you want more than 4 kg's, better contact me for a quote.
That's a pretty big tent though...
It's over half gone.

The tyvek is all sold,
BUT
I am considering purchasing another roll.
Keep the PM's coming if you're interested. If there is enough interest I may go ahead.
It really is great stuff, I am impressed with it.
Adam.

On the basis of this forum discussion I bought a roll of Tyvek HomeWrap 2.7m wide because I needed some for a recent trip (SCT).
Surplus is available for sale to forum members on similar basis as offered by tasadam previously.
Cost was slightly higher by still cheaper than retail - so price per metre is $7.50 and postage for 1-2 metres is $5.50 within Australia.
Please PM me if you are interested.
PS - we used it under two tents on SCT then Freycinet and it performed brilliantly. There was no moisture on tent floors inside or out and the underside of Tyvek was sometimes just a little damp. Will be interested to see how it performs in the snow.

Does any one in BWT land have any tyvek they are still wishing to onsell??? If not, I will get a roll and continue the spreading of what sounds like awesome groundsheet, tarp and possible bivy bag material.

I have recently contacted David and he tells me he still has a few metres of Tyvek so send him a PM if anyone's interested.
I'm still really happy with my bit we use under the Hilleberg. It gets less crinkly with time and frequent folding. Initially, though, a little unsociable in a crowded camp when shaking it before packing it away - just about need earplugs for that task. It's good now.

My roll of Tyvek has completely sold.
But there are at least 3 unfulfilled buyers so i would consider distributing another roll if there is enough demand.
Please PM me with your order - I am willing to take the risk if I get about 15-20 metres of firm orders.
Cheers, David

Hi
I have a roll of Tyvek on order - should be available in 1-3 days.
Price is still $7.50 per metre. But Aus Post charges have increased: 1-2 metres $5.70, 3 metres $9.90. Over 3 metres, please discuss because it will not fit into a 3kg Parcel Post satchel.
Cheers, David

Hi folks
I sold out one roll of Tyvek and had more orders so have purchased another.
Supplier wanted to charge me 30% more but was able to get it at old price, so if you are interested be quick. This will definitely be my last roll.
Still have about 20 metres available @ $7.50 per metre. Aus Post charges: 1-2 metres $5.70, 3 metres $9.90. Over 3 metres, please discuss because it will not fit into a 3kg Parcel Post satchel.
Please PM me with length required and I will advise bank account details for transfer.
Cheers, David

Thanks David for your efforts.
If anyone in Tasmania is interested in purchasing a roll and wants to continue the supply, PM me as I have a contact with a Tasmanian supplier.
The outlay isn't that much.

As per the
Tyvek by the metre topic, I had some interest from a member, I have sent a PM but it has not been read yet.
My supplier (in Hobart) has a roll that is being held on to, if anyone is interested in buying it to sell to forum members by the metre, PM me.

An insulation wholesale company. There is a business in Sydney that is the Australian distributor, then wholesale businesses get it off them and distribute it to other places, as mentioned earlier in this topic you can purchase a roll from some hardware suppliers, just that I got lucky in being able to deal with the wholesaler direct due to our purpose...
If you know a builder you might be able to get them to get you a roll at wholesale prices - the hardware stores are fairly expensive.
Still, if you get a roll at retail pricing it still works out somewhat less than $10 a metre.
Dimensions 2.7 metres long roll by 30 metre length.
Typical need by forum members is 2 or 3 metres, a couple of members wanted longer bits as they were experimenting with stitching etc.
Post is best done in the prepaid postpak envelopes from Aus Post (like airbags), 500 grams = 2 metres, larger bag fits 3 metres, above that it's best tp get a quote for post depending on where it's going.
Best way to cut it is to have a long straight edge like a board, and a very sharp knife, I used a razor blade.
I normally went slightly over length as well, so that people definitely got enough, if I stuffed up and went slightly under 2 metres and someone needed exactly 2 metres, well, better to be slightly over.
