Yeah true. But it's half the weight (LD is 1.1 without stakes or sealing) and has a much deeper floor, and of course the cuben won't stretch with humidity. Then again the LD is 9 inches wider. OK not revolutionary but who can argue with a 50% weight savings?

Not a fair weight comparison though, one is silnylon and the other is cuben.

I also really like the overlapping fly. Super simple but looks very effective. I guess that's what I like about Joe's designs, he's really good at whittling features down to their bare functional minimums.

The shell is very similar to the SMD Haven but the photos show a lot of creasing and panels which are being pulled every which way which I find problematic. I think ZPacks may have dropped the ball on this one.

Looking at the website, the image there looks woeful (to me). With the sides tied out as shown, the headroom drops significantly.

I'd rather Joe had modified the hexamid to have a triangular back, rather than the flat one it has, making it so it all pegged out to one point at the back....however.

I'm not in "tent making mode" at the moment, so I'm better off spending time looking at designs to turn my my 0.34 cuben into a quilt...

Agree the photos on the site show not as nice a set up as the video, but I still think it looks great. Somewhat sort of not really but kinda regretting my recent purchase or maybe that's just buyers guilt.

Don't think I haven't thought of it! I would be pretty much sold on the Duplex if it was 5" wider and 5" longer. I'm 6'4 and use a large mat and I think I would only just fit as is.

I think this looks pretty good and a little more weather proof than the Hexamids with a beak. I was seriously comtemplating getting a Hex twin last week but this may now be the next tent i get for nice weather walks with the wife.

I've been thinking about the Hexamid as a solo tent for a very long time, but could never quite get comfortable with the netting floor. Looks like my concerns have been answered...ZPacks Hexamid Solplex... still under 500g with a bucket floor. Just need to find the money!
