A place to chat about gear and the philosphy of ultralight. Ultralight bushwalking or backpacking focuses on carrying the lightest and simplest kit. There is still a good focus on safety and skill.

Ultralight Bushwalking/backpacking is about more than just gear lists. Ultralight walkers carefully consider gear based on the environment they are entering, the weather forecast, their own skill, other people in the group. Gear and systems are tested and tweaked. If you are new to this area then welcome - Please remember that although the same ultralight philosophy can be used in all environments that the specific gear and skill required will vary greatly. It is very dangerous to assume that you can just copy someone else's gear list, but you are encouraged to ask questions, learn and start reducing the pack weight and enjoying the freedom that comes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJZDyIz-0lk Walking out of the dark this morning-this song comes to me and just keeps coming. A brilliant and uplifting version if you're keen to listen, I especially like Warren Ellis' piano and the choir in this version. Grab on and run like you stole something.

Sitting at the ocean's edge this morning with a cuppa, watching the swell, waiting for the dawn proper -this song comes out of nowhere. Haven't listened to the album for months.

Yesterdays song.
In the tradition of this thread and songs that just pop into your head out walking......
Out of the blue it hits me trying to light the stove for a cuppa in the cold wind- and WOW it just pops into my head. At least I know where this one came from. REVERBBBBB-ALICIOUSSS. Dance like you're Ginger Rogers.
Another favourite of mine. Interestingly Brian Wilson didn't perform on it. Enter just the last string of characters after the = sign, inside the youtube tags. LIke this (without the leading space): [ youtube]pfnphiPIZ7c[/youtube]

That does not work well for me. The remembering thing.
What I do was 'quote' one of the posts that worked and saw what was required. This works on other sites too. Just don't post the 'reply' as that confuses others.

I remember it well NNW. I was living in Belgrave, working in Sherbrooke that morning and the radio alarm came on with the news...devastated that one of fav artists/guitarists had died in such tragic circumstances. Those 120-125 bpm shuffles are at an ideal walking pace.
I saw Stevie Ray at Melbourne Concert Hall 1984 but he was a bit out of it.

Get in the car to drive to work, they'd just started playing Cold Shot, and we're all "they don't usually play that sort of thing at this hour, maybe they're promoting a tour, wouldn't that be great ... " And then the announcer comes back on at the end of the track "That was the late Stevie Ray Vaughan ... " "WHAT!!!!!!!"
Best concert I ever saw in Melbourne was Rory Gallagher at the Palais. He was really hot that night.

Walking the AAWT I had Bob Dylan's Hurricane totally earworming me. So bad I had to download and listen to it to add some variety to the earworm with some more words. Its beat matched my pace and I was stuck.
