Kinloch to Greenstone Wharf

I was wondering what the condition of this road is like? We will be travelling in a standard hire car, 2WD. Anybody see any problems?

It's a good gravel road. There were plenty of standard cars in the Greenstone carpark when I was there last year and the minibus that took me back to Glenorchy had no problems, so you should be OK.

except in the heavy rain the road can be impassable to cars from streams crossing it.... if you're worrried there are shuttles that service the rd or kinloch lodge have a shuttle as well. kinloch have ir own boat and bus shuttle to glenorchy as well....

i was there just 3 months ago and parked at the greenstone track carpark for 5 days.

when i came back, found that rats got in and chewed all the rear seats up! apparently there had been an investation over the past summer and i was in for a $2000 excess for my hirecar. No idea how the rats got in, but hey bit through lots of things in the boot too!

on the way driving back from Greenstone carpark to Glenorchy, there were about 2 or 3 little streams we had to drive across. Even after 4 days of constant rain, water didnt look too deep.
I still tried to drive diagonally across the stream rather than perpendicular staright across the stream due to our car's low clearnance - abit like how lowered sports cars drive diagonally over speed humps.
My front bumper still managed smashed into some rocks (gently) and the front bumper cracked. I didnt really care as I was in for an excess pay up anyway thanks to the rats.

here's a big tip. buy travel insurance that covers car excess, rather than paying an extra add-on to minimise car excess with the rental company. I'm glad my travel insurance covered the excess.

oh yea, apart from those couple of streams, the road itself is good quality and shouldnt pose any problems.

Rats ate the seats; now I've heard everything!
