6 April 2023- Launceston to Cradle Mountain

Postby Paldini » Mon 30 Jan, 2023 8:15 pm

Hello all.
I am looking for either a ride share or transport advice. I arrive in Launceston Airport on 6 April at 9.10 am and need to get to Cradle Mountain for the 1 pm check in on the same day.

Ive gone through all (I think all of them) the shuttle companies and the scheduled services do not operate at a time that works. The UberX website is estimating $195 which doesn't seem bad.

any help or advice appreciated.

Base information:
The shuttle services all expect you to stay overnight in Launceston. Or arrive very early at the airport.
It can take a little time to get through quarantine inspection at Lanceston airport.
You will not be allowed to fly with any fuel for your stove. Nor take fresh fruit/vegetables to Tasmania...
If you take any homemade dehydrated food .. what happens if quarantine take some of it? Will you have enough time to resupply?

~150 km from the airport to Cradle 'check in' - allow 2 hours travel time?
The airport can take 40 mins ... at least it seems that long...
Are you going to have lunch?

I think your rushing your first days walk. Not how I'd like to start a holiday. But it is your trip.

Thanks Warin for the response. Yes it is a little rushed but I am constrained by when I can leave and I cannot delay my start date booking with NPs so I have to squeeze it in. Lots of spare time at the other end of the walk though :)

I have now had a response from David at eguide who can probably accomodate my needs. so if folk want to share that ride please let me know.
