Hi Everyone,

I went to the WOJ with my Brother for the first time in August and absolutely loved it. I used a lot of information from this site to plan our trip so i thought it was only fair to share some of the shots as a sign of thanks.

We stayed for 2 nights at Dixons Kingdom, walked the wall, climbed The Temple to watch the sunrise and visited the pool of Bethesda and lake Salome. There was so much more to do but ill be going back in Dec to see the native flowers bloom and would welcome any suggestions of what to do and where to stay when we go.

Cheers

Looks like you had a good trip!

Yes - its a great place to visit in any season. I was there last January (late Jan) and a lot of Scoparia was out in flower then. But I think it is often out earlier?

As for things to do - some are pretty obvious - like a walk around the Lake Ball Loop (either as a daywalk, or taking full packs - there are lots of nice campsites along the way), and its worth climbing all the peaks - not just the ones with tracks up them. They are all pretty easy. Eg it is not too hard to traverse from Solomons Throne to King Davids Peak and then drop back down to the track, or traverse from the Temple to Zion Hill and Mt Ophel. Also the Pools - Bethesda (look out for platypus) and Siloam - both well worth visiting. It may also be worth wandering down towards the Zion Gate - Valley of Hinam area - great views of the East Wall and great cushion plants and interesting flarks and strings. You can also from there wander along the Zion Vale to Lake Sidon. You need to have a variety of options and then choose something that suits the weather and your fitness etc.
