I have been living in the Dandenongs for about 14 years and never knew these falls existed until recently. Not much water coming over them at the moment but would look very nice in winter. They are approx 4-5m high and very overgrown at the base.

I decided to take the day off work yesterday and go in search of some waterfalls in the Strzelecki Ranges. Our first stop was Albert River Falls. The drive to them took about an hour longer than expected due to traffic, road works and the GPS getting us lost on several occasions. We were expecting a hard slog through the bush to reach them but found that someone had made a rough track down to them which was a welcome surprise.

We then decided to go in search of a couple of other un-mapped falls on a tributary of Albert River that we had been told about. The area was very steep with thick scrub and took us about 1.5 hours to cover about 500m from the car to the river. We then waded and rock hopped up-stream for another 700m or so. We found the first falls but they were very hard to photograph due to surrounding cliffs. We didn't attempt to find the second falls as were worried we would run out of daylight and didn't fancy trying to get out of the area in the dark. In the end we found a much easier way out which will make things much easier for our return trip.

Some from the Otways from yesterday:

Unfortunately I couldn't get a photo of these falls that show the height but I estimate they would be 20-30m tall. From these falls we headed down stream and through the gorge hoping to get to Box Canyon Falls. We passed several small falls and then made it to the top of another waterfall which also had a drop of 20-30m. We were not sure if these were Box Canyon Falls as our GPS reading did not match up to the map. We debated if the GPS reading was inaccurate due to being in the gorge as well as the low cloud or if the waterfall was marked in-correctly on the map (we know this was a possibility as Gorgeous Falls was not marked correctly). We had no hope of getting to the base of these falls and could only get a photo from the top.

We got back to the car soaking wet and cold but thought we would visit a couple of easier falls on the way home.

We visited a couple more falls today:
- Snobs Creek Falls
The base of these falls are rarely visited but they were stunning.
- Evelyn Falls 1st Drop

- Evelyn Falls 2nd Drop

It was very hard to get a photo of the 2nd drop because of the steep terrain, thick vegetation and rock walls.

Hers is some photos of waterfalls I visited yesterday.
- Sailors Falls
Unfortunately only one out of the two drops were flowing.
- Sailors Falls showing both drops
- The Blowhole
The Blowhole is a tunnel that was built by gold miners in the early 1870s. A hole was cut through the spur to redirect the water allowing the dried up creek bed to be sluiced for gold.

With a public holiday in Melbourne due to the Melbourne Cup (the horse I backed was so slow the jockey kept a diary of the trip) we decided to head down to the Otways to visit the Mousetrap Falls complex (our 3rd attempt). Although there wasn't a lot of water in the creeks the falls were still nice (they would look awesome with a good flow). The names of the falls may not be 100% accurate due to the little amount of info available.
