Here are a few photos from a recent perfect autumn day(walk) at Mt Field. I walked a circuit from Wombat Moor down to the Humboldt River, up to Tyenna Peak, across the sublime plateau to Florentine Peak, a very pleasant downhill to Clemes Tarn, on the track across the Rodway Ra.... :( green fagus at Tarn Shelf, then across the Mawson plateau and back down to the track completing a nice loop.

Very nice - sorry about the fagus. We were too early as well.

Thanks for the pics & report, tibboh. I didn't get to do those peaks last time, and am again encouraged to make sure I do the circuit when I get the chance. Perhaps with an overnighter... :)

Yes I think spending the night up under Florentine Peak at the tarns would be awesome and make two easy days rather than one long one. I didn't have the time or that is what I would have done. You would have more time to explore Lake Belton and head out to Mt Field West or The Watcher the second morning.

Sounds good. The Watcher is still awaiting...

Went to Mt Field West twice in 3 days (well, almost to the summit the second time). One of our party lost her very expensive multi-everything glasses, which I happily managed to retrieve. I LOVE that walk on the way out to the peak - one of my very favourites, at least in good weather. I got the swirly mist the second time - gorgeous! The rain only started when I got to the K Col hut for lunch on the way out. :D

Agreed about the Tyenna-Florentine plateau, so many good spots up there, would be an amazing place to spend a night!
