A mixed bag...

...of photos from the lasts couple of months. Enjoying the end of winter and the few short weeks of 'spring' before summer arrives in full. Camping trips along the coast, adventures in the rainforest, campfires, a canoe trip on the Clarence River on a surreal liquid metal day, the bow of the canoe cutting through a perfect mirror, drifting, daydreaming, watching the ripples radiate away in silence.

One afternoon a rival mob of roos came in and disturbed the group that had been hanging around our camp. Two of the big opposing males squared off and had a bit of an altercation leading to most of the two groups heading into the bush.

This guy was spraying 10 feet into the air, growling, flexing his muscles, rubbing himself on one of the timber bollards & throwing his head back in a display of victory / aggression. Totally freaky

wow thanks for sharing the photos - those ones of the kangaroos are hilarious, especially the old girl resting her elbow on the grass ledge (classic). might have to start a thread on 'funny animal shots' - I've got a few of a joey doing kung-fu moves.

also, was that Clarence Gorge where you had the canoe? Can't believe we haven't been there yet but people say it is nice. Would be interested to hear what you thought and if the river looked really low?

All great, but I particularly love the gorge shots - liquid metal indeed, and the peekaboo kangaroo. :D

Excellent shots. I love the one looking up the beach with the zig zag patterns. The last one of the kangaroo spraying is just waiting to be captioned.

Thanks Dave and everyone. It's a tough job exploring picturesque places and taking a few snaps but I manage to struggle through it

Yeah I think the water level was quite low when we were there, it's been a long spell without any decent rain and you can clearly see the tide marks to indicate previous water levels. If you do go and check it out I'd recommend taking the trip up the river, it was the best part of the few days we spent there. We didn't make it to the big waterfall this time but rounding the corner and entering the gorge proper was highlight enough.

A lot of the Clarence River is cattle country so don't expect pristine wilderness, we saw stock standing in the shallows drinking and doing their business... maybe bring your own water like we did

Lovely, thanks for the extra pics….we actually almost ended up there this weekend! - but chose pristine wilderness instead and so will try and get up there in a couple of weekends time. It has been on the to do list for toooo long now.
