North Esk River wander

Hi all, well I haven't been out taking amny photos of late but I went for a little wander along the North Esk River on sunday and ended up with a couple of ok photos, there was a good amount of water coming down which made access to the rivers edge for photos a tad difficult and limited, there are some very nice looking rapids if a little small, so I may have to investigate obtaining a small rubber ducky and having a go which I think would be fun at a similar water level.

Nice shots Michael, did you use a ND filter? I should buy one some time, I have used sometimes two Polarising filters but that is rather a bad emergency solution. Anyway first I need to get my tripod fixed.

Great photos Michael, just out of interest, where abouts on the North Esk are the photos taken?

Hi Sam, no NDs were used but a 3 stop reverse GND was used for the second last one as the cloud cover had broken up a bit and was quite difficult to balance the exposure, but I have also been lazy on the processing and that one could do with a bit more work. on all other shots I had a CPL on, as generally it was overcast enough and there was enough water to get a nice amount of water blur.

Hi Phil, these were taken near or in part of the Corra Linn Gorge just north of Evandale, a google map search will show you the exact location, there are quite a few historical photos in litereture showing the best part of the gorge which sparked my interest to have a bit of a look.

You live in St Leonards samh? You may like to change your profile details, I assumed you were from the big island - 'Australia - Other State/Territory '

I should note that whilst the river is not owned privately the surrounding land is and you need to cross some of the land especially the first part to get down into the river as such and avoid some very thick and prickly scrub. There is a small area to park next to an unlocked gate so I did assume (probably wrongly :D ) that they dont mind people crossing the land to access the river as its only paddoks surrounding the river at first.
