Gday all, it's been a little while since I last posted any photos! Last weekend my old man was going to Windy Ridge Hut to have a look at the leakage/condensation problems for Parks and Wildlife, So I tagged along and we went up to the hut Friday and then had Sat/Sun to roam, originally we had planned to head back down to Pine Valley hut and climb the Acropolis, but the ordinary weather and the comfort of the rangers hut helped us decide to stay both nights there and go for a day walk to Hartnett, D'alton and Ferguson Falls. With all the rain and snow the Mersey River had quite a good flow and the waterfalls were absolutely magical, so much power in the water, you certainly wouldn't want to slip into the river! Anyway they were quite tough conditions to shoot in with so much spray from the falls, rain and the difficulty in accessing good vantage points, but I managed a couple of shots I was happy with.

Nice shots Michael. That's one of those annoying quirks in life; you visit a fall after the rain when you know it will be impressive, and its damned hard to get a good shot. Still I think you achieved it nicely.

Thanks everyone! Yeah I've seen a lot of photos with a small trickle of water in the right hand corner of the falls, just lucky timing I guess as far as a good amout of water and an overcast misty day

It's always a bit of a double edged sword isn't it, you may end up getting a spectacular shot but then you run the risk of having them all ruined by spray, luckily there was a bit of a breeze going upstream so I had to try and time the exposure for when the wind blew the spray a different way which seemed to work ok in the end.

I really like the 3rd one. The way the water is channeling through the rocks, it looks like something from LOTR.

Thanks! Lol a few people have said the first has a LOTRs look to it! I think Ferguson Falls were my favourite as you could stand about 1m to the side of the falls, and then scramble onto the rock further down and get that view back up to the falls.
