Nice pics as usual Nick, love the Shelf Camp pic, but the tripod, if my cameraman leaves a tripod in shot he buys the beer!!!
There is no track to the summit, once you reach the rock face, it's choose your own adventure, a little bit hairy getting up the first face but then it's easy enough.

Thanks. That's actually my tripod :/ Perhaps I should buy myself a beer, hmmm...
We were following Chapman's directions to the summit, and got a little nervous when we got to the ledge and found it covered in ice... Perhaps next time.

I wouldn't touch it if it was icy either, I've been lucky with nice dry rock twice

The route is pretty well marked by cairns, once your across the ledge you are pretty much home free.
But with a bit of ice its not such a tantalising proposition.

It took me 4 attempts to get to the summit. Every single time the weather was perfect on day one and really bad on the second day. So the last time I did it as a daywalk and it worked, although I have to say I love camping up at the plateau especially in winter it is very beautiful.

Nice photos as usual Nick, it's a great walk up to shelf camp isn't it, but as you found out a little tricky to reach the summit when icy! Always a little dissappointing not being able to reach the top but certainly an easy peak to reach for another attempt when not icy!!

No I didn't see any track work that looked overly recent. There's quite a few sections with the recycled plastic boards and retainers though, which I haven't seen before...

they have done some work at some of the 'muddy' sections on the plateau, like putting down rock pavers. But that happend already in January when I was up there. As far as I understood that was the second of three planned stints.
