Took a drive up to Marysville for the first time since the devastating 2009 bushfires. Almost three years on the bush is trying to fight back but it's going to be a long journey. Fortunately some of the most beautiful spots survived.
The beautiful rainforest walk at The Beeches is largely untouched - although some of the canopy was burnt and can be seen from higher sections of the track. The walk to Keppel Falls survived but the walk in Cumberland Scenic Reserve is heavily fire-affected - there is still a sign for an "avenue of ferns" but the ferns have all been replaced by young gum trees. Such is the way with nature.
Here are some of my best images from the trip.
